Jess Kersey

Jess is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work focuses on equity and infrastructure services in the urbanizing Global South. Her PhD research integrates geospatial analysis, social science methods, participatory action research, and engineering techniques to examine access to electricity among low-income urban communities, with a particular focus on Kampala, Uganda.  Jess has worked with philanthropic and multilateral organizations to shape technology, policy, and regulation that promote inclusive access to electricity. She is also a photographer and visual storyteller interested in the intersections of people, infrastructure, equity, climate, and culture.
